Local groups are helping children get school supplies
ALBANY, GA -- With school just around the corner, a few organizations are helping those who can’t afford supplies.
If you want to donate schools supplies, Mission Change is holding a drive on Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon at the corner of First Avenue and North Davis. The school supply drive will help Justin’s Kids, another local organization supporting children.
Mission Change says people can bring anything listed on the “back to school” list at stores like Target and Wal-Mart. Supplies they are looking for include:
-Pens and pencils
-Notebook paper (wide and college ruled)
-Glue sticks
-Scissors
-Pencil boxes
-Crayola Markers
-Crayola Crayons
-Backpacks
-Art bags
-Boxed tissue
-Hand sanitizer
-Dry erase markets
The group is also looking for new or “gently used” navy or khaki shorts, pants or skirts as well as red, white or navy colored shirts.
And if kids need school supplies, Stop the Violence is giving kids backpacks with supplies at their Youth Summit on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. Youth can stop by for the day-long event at the J Building on Darton College’s Campus.
