ALBANY, GA -- A group of children came out to Albany State University this morning to get in shape.

The event, “Kids on the Move,” was organized by the Southwest Georgia District Public Health for children and young adults.

“Today we had kids on the move which is a 5K walk-run for people between the ages of two and 16 we also had the marines come out and they ran with the young people,” said Debra Willingham of the Southwest Georgia District Health. “We also had prizes for the winners -- first, second and third places.”

The walk-run was free of charge, and was designed to promote healthy lifestyles. Prizes, which included bicycles and skateboards, were designed to encourage children to keep active.
