A total of five charges will be brought against Christian Kline McCargo
ALBANY, GA -- The knife-wielding, armed robber of Sleep Inn was apprehended and charged this morning according to a news release from the Albany Police Department.
Christian Kline McCargo, age 29, has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery and one count of Felony Obstruction of an Officer after being apprehended by Uniform Bureau Officers in the 900 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard at approximately 4:30 a.m.
Officers responded to the Sleep Inn after receiving a call regarding an Armed Robbery. An unknown, masked, black male entered the business and walked up to the front desk. He demanded money from the clerk and the clerk complied. Afterwards the suspect fled the scene in a small black SUV with an undetermined amount of money from the register drawer.
Officers in the area spotted the vehicle traveling East on Dawson Road and minutes later a traffic stop was conducted in the 900 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard. Officers arrested the suspect and then transported him to the L.E.C. for further questioning.
After being interview by Robbery/Homicide Unit Investigators, McCargo was also charged with the two counts of misdemeanor "Theft by Taking" in relation to theft by taking that occurred at the Sleep Inn on Dawson Road on July 20, 2011. Cash from the business and an employee’s laptop were taken.
An additional count of "Armed Robbery" that occurred in the 900 block of South Slappey at the Sonic Restaurant on July 7, 2011. An undetermined amount of cash was taken from the business after the suspect displayed a knife.
All three cases remain under investigation and additional charges are pending.
