It’s not your ordinary food drive: Those who brought a non-perishable were invited to step into a pair of roller skates!

The River Road Church of Christ and Stardust Skate Center hosted their second “Skate ‘N’ Donate” Thursday evening. Their goal is to collect more than 3,000 pounds of food; last year they collected approximately 900 pounds.

The church also wants to introduce young people to community service.

"Have them start at an early age about being committed to the community and giving back and this will be one of those avenues that we can use as a tool to really spread the word about hunger in our community," says Antron Patton of River Road Church of  Christ.

All of the donated food will go to support the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southwest Georgia.

Patton says he hopes to make '"Skate 'N' Donate" a quarterly event.
