Five new Albany Transit buses are on the way, fitted with a new design and new eco-friendly engine
Albany Transit held a public forum to take questions and comments about their new bus design
ALBANY, GA -- By the end of the year, Albany Transit buses will be getting a makeover.
Albany Transit is receiving five new buses between December 2011 and February 2012 – and the buses will have a new “on the move” design that Transit Director Dwain Cosby says is contemporary yet conservative. He says it's a design that fits the area. The buses will also switch from white to a grey base color to make it easier to keep clean.
The new buses will also be eco-friendly and have upgraded technology, including a system that automatically calls out stops to assist those who are visually impaired.
“Also we have a GPS locator system on each bus so if there was an incident that happened on the bus the police or fire department would be able to track the bus very quickly," says Cosby.
Four of the old buses will be refurbished with the new design in the future as well.
You can view the designs in the Government Center lobby. If you have questions or comments about them, contact Albany Transit at (229) 430-5182.
