ALBANY, GA -- Many gathered around their televisions on Friday at 11:26 a.m. to watch the final space shuttle mission.

To commemorate this event and the space shuttle era, Thronateeska’s Science Museum is hosting “Shuttle Saturday.” There will be special presentations in the Wetherbee Planetarium, arts and crafts for kids and videos of the space program, among other activities.

Museum employees say the event will allow the adults to reminisce and the children to learn about space history.

“It's basically just a celebration of the space shuttle era. We wanted to do something to commemorate in our own little way how important the shuttle program is to us,” says Allison Young, Program Coordinator at Thronateeska.

The museum is free and open to the public while the planetarium is $3.50 per person ages three and up.

Shuttle Saturday will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.
