Updated with video; Project to be completed by end of September

ALBANY, GA -- The federal stimulus is funding a road widening project on Gillionville Road.

The project, which is ahead of schedule, is expected to be completed by September 30.

"I think it might end up being the preferred route instead of going all the way through town," said Caroline Hawkins of Albany. "So, I think it might make traffic easier going in and out of the city."

The Georgia Department of Transportation is overseeing the construction which is being done by Oxford Construction.
