Fewer crashes, fatalities than years past
There were fewer crashes and fatalities on the roads this Fourth of July weekend.
According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, there were 313 crashes, with 230 of those causing injuries. In all, there were 19 deaths on Georgia roads 14 of those were covered by state patrol.
The numbers are a total for the holiday weekend, including Monday.
The numbers are down compared to the same holiday weekend two years ago. In 2009, there were nearly 2,500 crashes, more than 600 injuries and 20 fatalities.
