A change in command is occuring at the MCLB Maintenance Center
ALBANY, GA -- After two years overseeing the Maintenance Center at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Col. Terry Reid is leaving.
“I'm headed to U.S. Air Force Command in Scott Air Force Base Illinois,” said Col. Reid.
Today the base held a change of command ceremony to see him off and welcome in his replacement, Col. Stephen Medeiros.
“The organization and the function of maintenance center Albany is terribly important to the Marine Corps. So I am extremely excited about being here. We've got a professional and astounding workforce here,” said Col. Medeiros.
“It's typically a two year assignment. Col. Reid has had his two years to command here and has done a marvelous job, during those two years and it's his time unfortunately for all of us to depart. But his relief is extremely qualified to take his place,” said Maj. Gen James Kessler.
On Wednesday the base held a change of a command ceremony to recognize the switch. Officials say Medeiros will have some big boots to fill.
“Col. Reid's balance is remarkable both professionally and personally. His involvement with the community as has his performance her as the captain of maintenance center Albany,” said Maj. Gen. Kessler.
“I didn't turn one wrench. I didn't weld one part and I didn't order anything. The Marines and the Civilian Marines did that. And they are responsible for all of the success that. My job was to be a servant leader and make sure that they had all the tools that they need, and they did just that. They are simply the best,” said Col. Reid.
