Victims were man, ex-girlfriend
ALBANY, GA -- FOX 31 was the first on the scene after two people were found shot-to-death at Greenbriar Apartments last night after a murder-suicide.
Authorities responded to apartment 1706 at 11:39 p.m. after receiving a call about gun shots being fired. They found Michael Montelle Williams, 30, and his ex-girlfriend, Marissa Nisbett, 28, dead inside.
A person of interest was taken into custody, but has since been released. They believe Williams' ex-girlfriend arrived to find him with another woman.
Authorities responded to a call at the same apartment on Graystone Lane for a domestic-related incident that afternoon around 4:00 p.m. A female guest of Williams' got into an altercation with his ex-girlfriend. After his ex-girlfriend was asked to leave, she threw a large piece of concrete through the windshield of his 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, police said.
“We thought it [the gun shots] was thunder,” said Deja David, a resident at the complex who heard multiple gun shots.
David said the complex is usually quiet, and everyone is friendly. “People say, ‘Hey, how are you doing?’ There’s no antagonism,” she said. "It's really quiet over here."
Residents were surprised there was a murder at the usually quiet complex.
Kamika Willis, who lives the the building next to the one where the bodies were found, said she did not realize what happened until she heard it on the news. "Pretty much everybody gets along," she said. "When I heard it this morning I was shocked."
"This is a very safe place," said Kelly Rogers, the manager's daughter. "I'm truly shocked at this incident."
The bodies will be sent to the crime lab tomorrow for autopsies, police said.
