ALBANY, GA -- Saturday was National HIV Testing Day and the Dougherty County Health Department held their second annual health fair.

People who came in got free health information, health check-ups, and also free HIV tests.

“We're finding that our HIV numbers are increasing so we want to get out there in the community and offer the education as well as free 20 minute HIV testing,” said Chanel Scott-Dixon, Southwest Health District HIV/AIDS Program Manager.

Getting diagnosed early means people who are infected with HIV can fully benefit from available live-saving treatments - yet nearly 40 percent of people with it are not diagnosed until they already have AIDS.
