Fiscal year set to start on July 1, 2011.

ALBANY, GA. -- The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission (EDC) held a meeting on Wednesday to review and approve the 2011-2012 fiscal budget.

Since the fiscal year for the agency is set to begin soon, officials met to discuss priorities and distributions concerning the fixed budget.

They also went over their mission to build business investments and create jobs in the Albany area.

The president on the commission said the new budget lacked funds that were included in last year’s budget.

“We had a one-time contribution made last year to help us with some advocacy efforts related to our military base and trying to protect it against future base closers,” said EDC President Ted Clem, “We did not receive this contribution this year within our budget.”

The 2011-2012 fiscal year for the Economic Development Commission will start on July 1, 2011.
