ALBANY, GA -- There's been a lot of talk about the buyout of Palmyra Park hospital by Phoebe Putney lately.

Today Phoebe CEO Joel Wernick gave an update to members of the Albany Rotary Club. Right now the purchase is being blocked by an injunction by the Federal Trade Commission.

“From our perspective we think this is a very appropriate strategy for our community. And yes we would be frustrated by the fact that we are doing this, but the government has their job to do, but we are doing the things that have been asked of us and will continue to do so,” said Joel Wernick.

Wernick says the Palmyra acquisition would help create up to 300 new, non existing jobs in Albany.

Right now a federal judge is reviewing whether or not phoebe can close the deal to purchase Palmyra.
