ALBANY, GA -- The Facebook Story of the Day you voted on was "Is the Flint River a good place to cool off?"
Fire Chief James Carswell says no--stating instances in the past where people have drowned trying to swim in the river or climb onto the rocks to go fishing.
“The water running across the rocks, it's also doing that on the bottom and it causes an undertow or current that can actually drag you down once in it. And so it's something that, if you're not an expert swimmer, you may not survive it,” says Chief Carswell.
He says if you get caught in the undertow, don't struggle, just flow with the current and it will take you somewhere to climb back on shore.
