LEE COUNTY -- Construction is officially underway for the Lee County Oakland Library and Conference center. Officials broke ground on the land on Monday morning.
The new facility will serve as the headquarters for libraries in Lee County.
Authorities say it took five point two million dollars to get the project started. The library will have online and wireless access, a self check-out system and even a coffee shop.
The Chairman of the Library Board, Eddie Hinman says they are trying to improve the image of Lee County.
“We’re trying to make sure that the quality of life in Lee County is available to everybody and with this library in this section, all of our districts have a library in them now,” said Eddie Hinman.
The new facility will also have a hall that can be rented out for events like family reunions and weddings.
