ALBANY, GA -- Lee County Sheriff, Reggie Rachals and his deputies responded to a young man who drowned in the Muckalee Creek Saturday afternoon.

According to Coroner Ronald Rowe, the victim was 21-year-old André Davis.

Officials say he was at the creek with friends when he jumped off a man-made platform set up on tree limbs.

He hit the water and appeared to struggle, going under the water a few times before friends pulled him out and tried to perform CPR, but it was too late.

Sheriff Rachals says this is not a common occurrence at that location.
