ALBANY, GA -- In our Facebook Story of the Day, you asked what free events are going on in Albany this weekend.

Saturday evening at 5 p.m., the Albany Marine Band is performing their program “Here We Stand” at the Albany Municipal Auditorium.

There will be a nature walk, arts and crafts and geocaching during National Trails Day on Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon at the  Riverfront Greenway Trail which begins at Riverfront Park (between Broad and Pine). Participants who complete the one-mile nature walk receive a ticket for the noon drawing; prizes include a free combo ticket to the RiverQuarium, kids books, flowering plants, composter among other items. National Trails Day will also feature animals from the RiverQuarium and bird watching with the Albany Audubon Society.

This weekend’s Movie in the Park is “Furry Vengeance” featuring Brendan Fraser. The movie starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Riverfront Park. Families interested in attending need to bring a blanket and chair.

“A lot of things are just picking up speed downtown as far as additional events: More people putting on events we’re putting on events and we're starting to see more traffic in the downtown area during the weekends,” says Downtown Manager Aaron Blair.

The Downtown Albany Market is also open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and featuring arts and crafts and entertainment along with local produce. Visit the market at the parking deck at the corner of Jackson Street and Broad Avenue.

“The first one they had some entertainment, I think Sherwood church provided some entertainment during the event, but as they're picking up speed they're going to look to have musicians playing there and creating more vendors as far as vendors and craft makers,” says Blair.

FOX 31 will have more tonight at 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. as well as on MySouthwestGa.com.
