The new sign ordinance changes only apply to business downtown

ALBANY, GA -- It's now easier for business downtown to get new sign approval.

Before, if a business wanted to get a new sign, both the Historic Preservation Commission and the city would have to sign off on it, which is a lengthy process.

“It could take up to eight weeks before the individual would receive final approval and then after they got approval, they have to go out and acquire the sign and have it manufactured and installed, so it could take several months,” says City Manager, James Taylor.

The ordinance has been changed so that only the Historic Preservation Commission will give final approval.
