The drivers were taken to the hospital and the Lee County Sheriff says a baby that was in the car seems to be fine

LEE COUNTY, GA -- As reported first on FOX 31 News at 10, a motor vehicle accident in the Southbound lane of U.S. 19 blocked traffic just outside of Leesburg.

According to Lee County Sheriff Reggie Rachals a Lexus ES300 car struck a Dodge Dakota truck that was in the middle of the road. The male driver of the truck, who Rachals says is in his 60s, was taken to the hospital as was the 20-year-old female driver of the car. Officers say both drivers are currently conscious.

Rachals says a baby was in the car with the 20-year-old but appears to be doing fine; he says the baby was active and crying when they arrived. He says the baby was also still in its car seat.

The call went out on dispatch at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday night. Rachals says Georgia State Patrol is helping with the investigation as to what caused the accident.
