ALBANY, GA -- Nurses, officials and those who work with children on a daily basis attended a symposium Wednesday on child abuse.

It was held at Phoebe Northwest  Wednesday afternoon.

Dr. Yameika Head spoke about physical abuse and how to spot it, former Assistant District Attorney Chris Cohilas talked about the criminal justice side of child abuse and Candy Bell, a registered nurse spoke about the Lily Pad and the services they provide.

“We're gonna be discussing how important it is not only to make that mandated report, but for our medical professionals, our counselors, our law enforcement officers, our social service staff to recognize child abuse when they see it and make these reports,” said Amy Boney with the Children's Advocacy Centers.

The symposium will continue Thursday at 8:00 a.m.
