Organization stretched thin after slew of storms.
ALBANY, GA -- After responding to disaster zones, the Southwest Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking financial donations to help families in need.
The organization has volunteers and staff members stationed in Alabama and north Georgia working on relief efforts. Those areas were hit hard by a slew of tornados in late April.
The American Red Cross also has people working in the mid-west providing aid to those struck by recent floods.
Mari Wright, director of philanthropy, said funds are stretching thin right now because they are working on so many fronts. Since the Southwest Georgia Chapter of of the Red Cross does not have storage for donations of food and clothing, they are asking people to donate a monetary gift.
"Right now we need people to donate to the disaster relief fund," said Mari Wright, "The disaster relief fund is for all disaster that we respond to."
The company is asking people to donate either online or by stopping by the American Red Cross at 500 Pine Avenue in Albany.
