Family showed up to say goodbyes
ALBANY, GA -- Another one of Albany's marines is heading to Afghanistan. Benjamin Curls, WG-10 marine, deployed at 5:00 p.m. from the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport.
He is an assigned mechanic, but while in overseas he will be working on the Southwest Extension Program. Under that program he will assist with cleanup efforts after warfare.
Curls new wife showed up at the airport along with his mom, sister, and other family members. She struggled to hold back the tears as her husband prepared to leave the country.
"I'm not happy about it," said Benjamin Curls, "but it was my time to go."
Before arriving to Afghanistan, he will make stops in Atlanta and Amsterdam.
