President Barack Obama says he decided to release his birth certificate because the nation doesn't have time for what he calls this "kind of silliness."
(AP) -- WASHINGTON (AP) - The birth certificate is out.
The White House has released the long form of President Barack Obama's birth certificate in response to questions about whether he was really born in the U.S. It says Obama was born in Hawaii, making him eligible to hold the office of president.
Obama had released a standard short form before he was elected. He requested copies of his original birth certificate from Hawaii officials this week in hopes of ending the controversy.
