ALBANY, GA -- On the anniversary of Jesus Christ's resurrection worshippers on the Marine Corps Logistics Base rose early to greet the sun. The chaplain of the service said in past years the stands were filled, however he believes since it was so cold last year, people didn't turn out this year.

Although the congregation didn't pack the stands, those who showed up rejoiced all the same. The service was held at 7:00 a.m. in front of Covella pond, a place some consider serene.

"It's just so peaceful. It's just a little bit of what heaven is going to be like," said Sunday worshipper Sara Duren.

Dana Wallace attended with her family. She is the wife of a civilian marine who headed to California just after service. Before leaving, the family planned to spend their moments together.

"It's always nice to have family time. So, we're going to go out and spend some time having a nice family breakfast before he heads to the airport," said Dana Wallace.

Many people weren't able to spend the day with loved ones. Chaplain Ken Miller hoped his sermon touched their hearts.

"As a military base we have people from all over who are stationed here, who are not at home with their families in a traditional sense. So, we try to provide for them and give them some of that resemblance of home," said Chaplain Ken Miller.

The congregation was treated to breakfast after the hour long service.
