A campaign to raise aids awareness for college students made a stop in Albany Tuesday

ALBANY, GA -- A campaign to raise aids awareness for college students made a stop in Albany Tuesday.

Officials Georgia Department of Community Health held a seminar at Albany State, talking to students about the disease.

They also wanted used entertainment bringing in rappers and poets. Officials say aids education is especially important for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

“African Americans, not only in Georgia but across the United States, have been disportionately impacted by this epidemic, so it's very important that we are able to get out and raise awareness concerning HIV and aids among all people especially African Americans,” said Kenneth Johnson of the Georgia Department of Community Health.

Afterward, the group also providing free HIV testing for students. ASU’s goal was to have at least 100 people tested for HIV.
