Firefighters sent the homes at 708 and 714 McKinley Ave up in flames
ALBANY, GA -- Some houses in south Albany burned to the ground today. It was all part of a training program by the fire department.
Firefighters sent the homes at 708 and 714 McKinley Ave up in flames.
They wanted to get a chance to practice with a new sprayer, called a piercing nozzle. It's used mostly for attic fires, and firefighters say it saves a lot of water.
“In this scenario we used about 280 gallons of water, versus our regular fire nozzle where we use 600 gallons or more. We use 280 and it extinguishes the fire real fast,” said Rubin Jordan, Albany Fire Department Chief of Training.
The two homes had been abandoned and were taken over the county court.
