The National Weather Service says a tornado touched down in Dodge County and struck two mobile homes, including one that was ripped from its foundation, killing an occupant.

National Weather Service forecaster Vaughn Smith said Tuesday two other possible tornadoes during the storms that hit Georgia Monday night and early Tuesday are being investigated. The Dodge County Sheriff's Office says the tornado that touched down there early Tuesday uprooted a double-wide mobile home. One occupant, 45-year-old Christopher McNair of Cochran, was killed and three others were injured.

Smith says the gusty winds from the storm are slowly dying down. He says possible tornadoes are being investigated in Gilmer
County and in Butts County, where a tree fell on a house, killing a father and his 4-year-old son.

Officials say at least five people have died in Georgia as a result of overnight storms, including a father and his 3-year-old son.

Butts County officials say 28-year-old Alix Bonhomme Jr. and his son, Alix III, were killed early Tuesday when a tree limb crashed onto their bed in Jackson. In Colquitt County, officials say a county worker was driving his pickup truck to work early Tuesday when it struck a tree, killing him. His name has not been released. In Dodge County, the sheriff's department says 45-year-old Christopher McNair of Cochran was found dead after a severe thunderstorm ripped a mobile home from its foundation in the Gresston community.

Atlanta police say a man was killed Tuesday morning when a tree fell on his car in northwest Atlanta.

Original Story: The death toll has risen to six people after fast moving storms hit the South with high winds, hail, lightning and power outages.

Georgia Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Lisa Janak says four people have been killed in Georgia, two of them, a father and son who died when a tree fell onto a home in Butts County. Dodge and Colquitt counties also each had a death.

Tennessee and Mississippi also each have reported a death related to the storms.

A fire in downtown Donaldson is believed to have been started by lightning.
