TIFTON, GA -- Tifton police make an arrest in a hit and run case.

26-year-old Valerie Michelle Baker, of 106 Robin Street, was arrested late Thursday afternoon and charged with aggravated battery for allegedly striking 22-year-old Jasmine Dean with a vehicle.

Baker reportedly hit Dean late Tuesday night on the south side of 13th Street. Investigators in the case say Baker was driving a Jeep Cherokee and drove off the road and intentionally struck Dean. Dean survived the alleged attack and remains hospitalized in good condition.

Police say Baker’s motive for hitting Dean may have stemmed from an earlier altercation, and add that Dean is lucky to be alive following the attack.

Baker is currently being held in the Tift County Jail.
