Dougherty County Police and Drug Unit will also be given a fingerprint scanner

ALBANY, GA -- The Dougherty County Sheriff's Office is receiving a grant that will help put more bad guys behind bars.

Through a grant for over $21,000, they will be acquiring six new rapid ID fingerprint scanners.

Sheriff Kevin Sproul announced they will be giving a scanner to the Dougherty County Police Department as well as the drug unit.

Major bill berry said the scanners could have come in handy in last week's drug raid, when the suspect and everyone in the house denied their real names.

The scanners are the size of smartphones and can give the officer a name and any warrants on the suspect in as little as 30 seconds.
