Both SPLOST 2013 and E-SPLOST pass with close to 900 votes each
Lee County voters decide to pass SPLOST 2013 and E-SPLOST
LEE COUNTY, GA -- Approximately $25 million will be coming to Lee County to help with a variety of improvement projects.
Voters decided to renew the Special Local Option Sales Tax 2013: SPLOST passed with 880 votes and the Lee County Board of Education SPLOST passed with 907 votes. Approximately 150 citizens voted no to SPLOST 2013 and 117 voted against the E-SPLOST.
Officials with the Lee County Board of Elections say they were disappointed with the low turnout they received this year, which came out to just under six percent.
Capital projects that will be funded by the penny tax will include recreation projects, road improvements and public safety. The E-SPLOST will fund a new elementary school at Robert B. Lee and Lovers Lane.
The current SPLOST will expire on September 30, 2013.
