Bill Lightle is former H.S. football star, author
ALBANY, GA. -- The Albany Kiwanis Club got a lesson in sports today from a former football star-turned-author.
Bill Lightle played football at Albany High School and now teaches history at Albany State and LaGrange.
Lightle has written three books dealing with subjects such as football, sharecropping, and the Great Depression.
His latest book is ‘My Mother’s Dream’ about his parents’ love for each other and his father’s love of baseball.
"The title of the book comes from a dream my mother had," said Lightle. "She dreamed she was at the ballpark watching my dad catch – he was a catcher and a good one. The ball comes to Dad and instead of throwing it back to the pitcher, he turns around and flips it to Mom in the stands."
Lightle has written for the Albany Herald and for three other newspapers.
