ALBANY, GA -- Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards, wants to stop violence against women -- and a grant may help him do just that.

Edwards requested support from the Dougherty County Commission Monday for a grant program that would allow him to hire an assistant D.A. and an investigator who specializes in domestic violence issues.

“We've got to draw attention to preventing domestic violence and also, in light of its existence, we have to intervene effectively with the courts.

The grant would be for $106,000.
