Students at Westover High School were visited by GSP officers Wednesday
ALBANY, GA -- Westover High School students pledged not to text while driving.
In an effort to create awareness, Georgia State Patrol officers showed a video to students, showing victims of texting while driving accidents.
Students could sign a pledge, promising to not text while driving.
Chelsea Lee is a freshman, and though she hasn't started driving yet, she says she'll stay away from texting since someone she knew was involved in accident.
“They were walking on the sidewalk and a teenager was texting and driving and when they were going to their car, they hit them,” Said Lee.
Officials say texting and driving is more dangerous than driving intoxicated.
You’re also five times more likely to get in an accident if you are distracted.
