Users are more politically correct now more than ever
ALBANY, GA -- Many people are saying Facebook isn't what it used to be... And southwest Georgians are no exception.
Some people are thinking twice before posting a picture or making a comment on a friend's page - there's even a chance that what you post will get you in trouble with the law.
Facebook used to be a casual website where people could say or do anything they wanted without thinking twice. However, now potential employees, colleges, and colleagues are watching every move.
“My boss is actually my friend on Facebook, so I also have to watch what I put on there and watch what pictures I put on there,” Said Becky Jo Baltenberger, an employee at Mike’s Country Store.
People are even afraid of posting a comment, afraid they’ll offend somebody else. And it's not just the younger generation, even parents are wondering if pictures of their child could be considered child pornography. But, Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek says not unless the pictures are extreme.
“Bare baby bottoms laying there on the blanket, we're not looking at that as child pornography. If you're not showing pictures that show children's genitalia, simulated or actual sexual acts, sexual contact, things of that nature, it's not gonna be categorized as child pornography,” Said Chief Cheek.
Even though Facebook is being approached in a different way, folks say the fad is far from over.
