ALBANY, GA -- A domestic violence advocacy group hosted a banquet Saturday night to help fund their safe house. Haven for Hope held its first benefit banquet at the Grand Island Club. The event was meant to raise awareness on the issue of domestic violence.

Founder Kathia Collins says the organization needs support in order to succeed. “We need the funding and we know there is a lot of domestic abuse in Dougherty and surrounding counties, so that's why it's important,” says Collins.

About 75 people attended Saturday’s banquet.
