LEESBURG, GA -- Butterfly Kisses held a yard sale Saturday morning where everything was a dollar.
The organization for special needs children is raising the money to help them become an official non-profit with the IRS. Founder Traci Henry says the paperwork costs $850. So far, she’s raised $400 from a recent formal wear sale where items like prom dresses were sold. Henry is hoping to get $450 from Saturday’s yard sale. Items for these fundraisers were donated by the community.
“It's overwhelming; everything I do is overwhelming because of the involvement of the community. People say thanks to me for what I do but I couldn't do it without everyone’s help; I just organize it and put it together,” says Henry. "All I have to do is ask, and people are very generous with everything."
In December, Butterfly Kisses won a $50,000 Pepsi Refresh grant to build a playground especially for children with special needs.
