ALBANY, GA -- The Thronateeska Heritage Museum added a new display to its Air and Science Exhibit.
Heat Pipe Technology was part of NASA’s Spinoff Technology Program and designed to control temperature and humidity around pipes.
Bobs Candies in Albany partnered with NASA in 1980 to use the system in order to keep the candy canes safe in the heat. History of the partnership is showcased in the exhibit. Museum Director Tommy Gregors says so far the exhibit has been a big hit with visitors.
“In the exhibit we've got everything from the Wright Brothers plane to a space shuttle and space suits and butterflies that went up in space. It’s a great piece to add to what we have,” says Gregors.
The museum is open Thursday through Saturday from 10am to 4:00pm. "A Thread in Time," a story about the cotton textile industry in Albany, also opened Thursday in the History Museum.
