ALBANY, GA -- Students at Albany Technical College are receiving additional financial help through new scholarship money.
Norman Barber, Human Resources and Safety Manager for American Proteins, Inc., presented the President of Albany Tech, Dr. Anthony Parker, with at $6,500 check for the college’s scholarship program on Monday.
Albany Tech officials say students will receive portions of this money as needed through general scholarships. They say they receive a lot of requests for small amounts of money and that this donation from American Proteins will help fill those needs.
“We want to help as many students as we can to come to college, especially those living in our rural areas,” says Parker in a press release. “This scholarship will give students a chance to achieve their educational goals and become successful members of the workforce.”
Forsyth County business and civic leader Tommy Bagwell and his wife, Chantal, established the $500,000 Bagwell Family Scholarship Endowment to provide scholarships for students attending technical colleges located near their family business location. American Proteins, Inc. is this family business and has three locations, including one in Cuthbert.
Scholarship recipients are chosen based on financial need and the likelihood of their success, according to Albany Technical College officials.
