Former DCSS police officer indicted on theft charges

Willie Hardrick turned himself in to authorities Thursday

ALBANY, GA -- Dougherty County School police officer has been indicted by a grand jury on forgery, theft by deception and violation of oath of office charges.

Willie Hardrick tried returning a used prepaid cell phone to the Family Dollar at 211 Slappey Boulevard, claiming it was new. The incident happened November 2, 2010. Chief Troy Conley of the DCSS Police Department recommended Hardrick's termination and that's when Hardrick resigned. Hardrick turned himself Thursday and posted a $5,000 bond. No arraignment date has been set.

Hardrick has been with the DCSS Police since September 2008.
