People of all ages came out to the fairgrounds Saturday to check out a wide variety of guns
Organizers say many people were looking to buy guns for protection
ALBANY, GA -- Thousands of people are expected to attend this weekend’s gun show at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds.
People of all ages came out to the fairgrounds Saturday to check out a wide variety of guns. About 2,000 people are expected to turn out; many looking for safety.
And while there was a large turnout at the gun show, there is one person that both dealers and the organizers were hoping would show up; Diahanna McCulloch. McCulloch was working at Paradise Village Mobile Home Park Wednesday when two men attacked her. She fought back; shooting and wounding one of the men.
McCulloch was looking to buy a few things, but she didn’t need to buy much; dealers donated ammo and a new gun case to her for standing up and protecting herself. “I haven’t met 90% of the people who’ve said great job, were proud of you, thank God you’re ok. It’s a great feeling but I keep telling everyone I’m not a hero. I did what I had to do and if you’re in that situation and can’t get out, fight,” says McCulloch.
But McCulloch says you can’t just buy a gun and shoot it, you have to learn how to use it. She also says it should always be used as a last resort; always call police first.
