Albany ARC and Police AmeriCorps host events for Deal's Inaugural Event ‘A Day of Service’
The Albany ARC hosted a food drive
ALBANY, GA -- Albany Police AmeriCorps hosted an event Saturday as part of Governor Deal's Inaugural Event ‘A Day of Service’. They teamed up with other organizations like Albany Tech and Darton College to hold ‘The Formula for Success,' a job preparation and job search assistance expo.
AmeriCorps’ Eugene Papa says they held this event because their main objective is community interaction. “There are a lot of people who come in here with no interview skills, were trying to give them those skills and confidence really,” says Papa.
The Albany Advocacy Resource Center also took part in ‘A Day of Service’. The organization held a food drive this morning. Food they collect goes to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Organizer Eddie McCrary says now is the time to donate. “It is right after the holidays and the food bank really needs some assistance now to really replenish everything they have there. So were just thankful for whatever we can get,” says McCrary
If you missed the event, you can still drop of your canned goods at the A-R-C or Second Harvest.
