19-yeard-old Brandon Harrington reportedly shot and killed 72-year-old Mamie Wright when she returned to her home Wednesday morning
CORDELE, GA -- Cordele Police Department spokeswoman Sandy MacNeil told FOX News on Saturday morning that 19-year-old Brandon Harrington has been arrested and charged with the murder of 72-year-old Mamie Wright.
Harrington reportedly shot Wright three times late Wednesday morning when she returned to her home at 106 13th Street in Cordele and caught Harrington in the act of committing burglary. Wright was able to call 911 and give a partial description of Harrington to police. She was rushed to a local hospital but died in a few hours later.
MacNeil says that Harrington was arrested following a search of his home just after midnight Thursday, and that he lives in close proximity to Wright’s home.
Harrington is charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery of a person 65-years of age or older, burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer.
Harrington is being held in the Crisp County Jail.
