The third annual “Holiday Meal for the Community”
ALBANY, GA. -- The Dougherty County Sheriff's Office, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals partnered together to spread some edible holiday cheer.
The group packed hundreds of food boxes for the third annual “Holiday Meal for the Community” program.
The food boxes were assembled at C.W. Heath Park and then passed out in east Albany neighborhoods.
Omega Psi Phi member Frank Wilson says it’s their way of giving back to the community this holiday season. “You know there's an old saying that people don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care. So this is one of the things we wanted to do to let the community know that we care about hunger, about family, and about making people happy during the holiday season” says Wilson.
Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul, officers, and fraternity members hand delivered most of the meals right after packing them.
