Several marines and their families came out to watch them flip the switch at this year's Christmas tree lighting event

ALBANY, GA -- Families and marines gathered Friday night to watch the annual lighting of the Christmas tree on base.

Commanding Officer Col. Terry Williams gave the countdown, and the switch was flipped. There to help with the countdown was Destiny Story, who won the raffle. Story says she was happy because her father was in town this year for Christmas. He had been deployed the last two years.

Lots of food was on hand and after the tree lighting, Santa made a special appearance. He arrived by fire truck and greeted all the kids in the crowd.

He even took time to sit with them as each one gave them their long Christmas wish lists.
