ALBANY, GA -- 100 students at Turner Elementary School got an early Christmas present Tuesday.

Students were given a free pair of new Nikes from volunteers at the HEART Organization.

Some of the students said they have gone years with the same pair of shoes. Organizers say they'll make good use of their new present.

“Shoes are something that a kid can wear year round versus a jacket, that you can only wear in the winter,” said Otis George of HEART.

HEART has an additional 400 pair of shoes that they will distribute to four other schools in the next two days.

HEART will continue helping needy families and purchasing shoes for underprivileged children. If you would like to make a contribution, organizers ask that you send donations to the following address:

H.E.A.R.T. Organization, Inc.
P.O. Box 4433
Albany, GA 31706
