ALBANY, GA -- They're celebrating Hanukkah at the Temple B'nai Israel.

It started with a banquet at 6:30 with traditional Hanukkah food items and a lighting of the candles. It was followed by a special Hanukkah program put on by students of the religious school. Hanukkah celebrates the miracle that happened when the Maccabees defeated Syrian armies and discovered the army had polluted all the holy oil except for one jar.

Even though there was only enough oil for one night, it lasted for eight, and this is symbolized in the lighting of the menorah.
