Just like any town, the marine base awards government bids for projects
ALBANY, GA -- There's always something being built or torn down on the marine base.
Because of this, Antron Patton is one of the men who is in charge of overseeing the execution of government bids that are awarded to contractors. There are often projects that the government itself cannot complete. This provides for a symbiotic relationship between the base and the city of Albany because bids are awarded to area businesses, and in so doing, the base helps boost the local economy.
Bids are awarded for many things, such as grounds maintenance, facility repair, janitorial services and construction. Crews are currently building a new barracks for marines living on base. Also, with the war efforts being reduced, more equipment is coming back from oversees. Another project yet to be awarded is the construction of the facility that will house that equipment.
Just another way folks are supporting the war fighter right here in Albany, Georgia.
