American Express has named Saturday Small Business Day and is encouraging holiday shoppers to hit local stores

ALBANY, GA -- American Express has named Saturday Small Business Day and is encouraging holiday shoppers to hit local stores.

Julia Temples has owned her clothing store Envy for almost a decade. She says it can be difficult at times to compete with big retailers.

Temples says a lot of times her one of a kind pieces are what draw customers into her store. “It’s something unique I mean if you go to the mall or other places, you’re going to see that item everywhere, here we only carry 6 of each item,” says Temples.

But those aren’t the only benefits a small business offers. American Express says over half of the money that goes into local stores, goes back into the community; which means shopping locally, helps the area as a whole.
