ALBANY, GA -- For many people, a hot meal is normal; but some Southwest Georgians rely on programs like Meals on Wheels for a warm dinner. And since it’s the ‘season of giving’ more people are eager to volunteer.

But volunteers are needed year round because this season isn’t the only time residents need support. Meals on Wheels delivers 5 days a week and each meal comes with a hot dinner, carton of milk, and dessert.

Reverend Garrett Andrew with First Presbyterian Church says the program offers clients more than just a hot meal. “People on the program normally don’t have any interaction anytime of the week other than the time people drop off meals,” says Andrew.

Meals on Wheels is run by the Southwest Georgia Council on Aging.
