Girl Scouts work toward badges focused on science

ALBANY, GA. -- Girl Scouts from around Southwest Georgia visited the Flint Riverquarium Saturday to earn a badge.

Juniors, Cadets, and a couple of Brownie Girl Scouts worked on projects that included the life cycle of a frog and experimenting with earthworms.

Flint Riverquarium Education Manager Melisa Martin says it’s important to make sure the girls are able to earn a badge while learning and having fun with science.  “We want to help them apply what they learn in the classroom or maybe learn at Girl Scouts and apply that to real life.   The activities really bring it home and make it a reality for the girls when they get to do the hands on activities.  They’re able to visualize what they're learning about” says Martin.

All of the young ladies were working toward their Wild Life or Watch Wildlife badges.
